Introducing Jeff Carter

MACLEAN PHOTOGRAPHIC
MacLean Photographic was founded in 1996 and takes its name from owner Jeff Carter's full name - Jeffrey Stuart MacLean Carter. Based in Dunbar, just 25 miles from Edinburgh, Jeff Carter travels the world with his camera, always on the lookout for that next great image to capture.

Jeff Carter has been a professional photographer since 1994 and on leaving the Royal Air Force in 1996 he set up MacLean Photographic, specialising in sports photography, becoming the Official Photographer for the British Canoe Slalom team ahead of the Los Angeles Olympic Games. In 1997 he gained a Licentiate to the British Institute of Professional Photographers, one of the first to gain the award with a portfolio of motor sport images.

In 1998 he became the staff photographer at the Grantham Journal, one of the largest weekly newspapers in the East of England, working to provide the news staff with a variety of news and sports images.

In 2000 Jeff Carter took the post as the Press Officer for the European Formula Palmer Audi Championship and this has led to a long career at the pinnacle of motor sport.

Since 2009 he has worked for the FIA, the world governing body of motors sport, as the Media Delegate for the FIA GT3 European and FIA GT1 World Championships and since 2012 the FIA World Endurance Championship. As part of this role he has been able to be hands on with motor sport photography as well as being in charge of the international media and the official photographic agency for the championship. He has also been the photo delegate for the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2012.

Alongside his motor sport photography, Jeff Carter has carved a great reputation for his commercial and fine art work, including landscapes in and around his home in Dunbar, Scotland. His work has been featured in many magazines including BBC Countryfile, Scottish Field, the Sunday Times, BBC Spring Watch and several other high profile media outlets both in the UK and abroad.

His love of the Scottish landscapes is clear for all to see in the gallery and on the MacLean Photographic blog and Flickr pages. In 2014 MacLean Photographic launch a series of Workshops and Tours where Jeff teaches other photographers how to get the best out of their camera and take home some great memories from East Lothian and the Borders of Scotland.

As well as providing photographic services to commercial clients, MacLean Photographic run a number of Photographic Workshops and Tours for individual or small groups of photographers of all abilities. If you are interested in finding out more about the Tours and Workshops on offer please visit the Workshops and Tours page.
